Wines from Cachapoal Valley, Rapel appellation: our vineyard and cellar in Santa Amalia, Rengo, and the lines that come from it.
Cachapoal Valley is a wine region in Chile’s O’Higgins region, part of the Rapel Valley appellation, and Viña Puntí Ferrer makes its wines in Santa Amalia, Rengo, in the heart of it. We are a family winery of Catalan origin that exports bottled and bulk wine to more than 20 markets on five continents.
This page is for buyers, importers and wine lovers who want to understand Cachapoal and see which of our wines come from it.
Our single vineyard today is Santa Amalia, in Rengo, on gravel and clay soils at the foot of the Andes. The winery is on the same site, at Lote 28 B, Los Choapinos, Rengo, and winemaking is led by oenologist Jorge Martínez. Vineyard and cellar share one origin: Rengo, Cachapoal Valley.
Not every line comes from the same valley: each variety is sourced where it performs best. These are the wines whose technical sheets state Cachapoal Valley as origin:
| Line | Wines from Cachapoal Valley |
|---|---|
| Reserva | Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc |
| Gran Reserva | Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Malbec and Chardonnay |
| Conforme | Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon |
| Innovation Series | Malbec |
The Signature line is from the Central Valley, and in the Reserva line the Cabernet and Carménère come from the Rapel Valley while the Pinot Noir comes from the Aconcagua Valley. Each technical sheet states its exact origin.
Puntí Ferrer wines carry published scores from James Suckling (up to 93), Wine Enthusiast (up to 92), Vinous (91) and Tim Atkin MW (90, Best of Chile). Among them, three come from Cachapoal:

Importers usually look for a clear origin, a winery that can show where and how the wine is made, and continuity of supply. At Puntí Ferrer the origin is a specific vineyard in Rengo and the cellar is the same place where the wine is vinified. For bottled wine, browse the range for importers. For bulk wine, see bulk wine from Chile, and for your own brand, private label and OEM. The Spanish version of this page is Valle de Cachapoal.
